The worship of the stars as powerful deities in Chinese pantheon started before historical Taoism or Buddhism was born. In other words, it is the worship of nature by humans since the start of human civilization. So Jiuhuang worship is longer than any established religions ,maybe except Hinduism which is the oldest religion recorded. Thus ancient people, before the advent of science and technology uses the location of stars to predict the different seasons for harvest and important events and thus the stars played a significantly huge importance to human existence. Overtime , the stars became a huge importance to human existence and gradually it developed into a belief that the stars played a part in human survival. It directly lead to the study of the astronomy as science and thus fengshui or geomancy is born.
